A lot of training programs have been popping up lately that recognize the need for intensity to get a result. Crossfit, P90X, Insanity and The 10-Minute Trainer all fall into this category. The way these programs meet the intensity requirement is by performing a high volume of exercise--lot's of reps and/or lot's of exercises--in a short period of time with no rest.
In looking at these programs, it showed us that we were missing something by focusing so much on local fatigue. There is a growing body of research supporting short, high-intensity cardiovascular workouts. The rapid expenditure of glycogen and the stress on your heart and lungs yields superior results when compared to the "Aerobic" workouts popularized in the 1970's and 80's. This is owing primarily to the rise in Human Growth Hormone (HGH) production stimulated in the wake such an effort.
We decided to apply the same approach, using our tools and attention to detail...and, the Circuit Session was born.
In a Circuit, you'll perform 3 rounds of 4-6 exercises chosen to provide a full-body workout. Our cardiovascular system quickly falls behind in fueling this kind of effort and you wind up hitting subsystems pretty hard, instigating the same positive metabolic adaptations produced in competing programs.
